Bloom Biorenewables, a EPFL startup company, has an exciting opportunity for a Chemical Engineer to help promoting the development of a groundbreaking technology in the production of plant-based commodity chemicals.
In collaboration with EPFL and BFH, the candidate will manage the scale up of our novel pre-treatment process, contribute to the development of new product applications and liaise with academic and industrial stakeholders. Furthermore, he/she will take part in the strategic planning and contribute actively to the growth of the startup company.
The qualified candidate will work with a dynamic team of experts in a stimulating environment, with access to core-facilities and state-of-the-art laboratories in both partner institutions.
Design of sound experiments, laboratory skills and scientific communication will be the key elements of this project. Therefore, the candidate must have a strong background in chemical engineering and be skillful in the use of advanced scientific instrumentation (HPLC, GC-MS, NMR). Additional experience in wood chemistry is desirable, but not mandatory. Furthermore, the applicant should be entrepreneurial, highly motivated and possess excellent communication skills.
Master, ideally with 2 years of experience in a similar position (academic or industrial).
Project management experience is a requirement.
Experience in process design and scale up is an asset.
Proficient in English. French or German is a plus.
Master of Science in Chemical Engineering is required.
